Gaelic Storm and Iris Dement
|

| This year's go-to-concerts for me included Iris Dement and Gaelic Storm (separate concerts). Both were excellent. What impressed me most about Iris was her authenticity, and with Gaelic - they truly knew how to work a crowd. Plus, the music at both events was outstanding. |

What makes a good blog?
|

| I've been pondering this question and have come up with the following answers.
* Interesting content. If I go to someone's blog and it sounds just like the last one I went to, I doubt I'll stick around or ever come back.
* Pictures once in a while. It's true. We're a visual people, most of us, anyway, and so we crave bright colors to keep our attention. It works.
* A sense of humor. Who wants to read a solemn blog about the miscreants of mankind and how they took advantage of me, stole my spouse, raided my refridgerator, and killed my dog? Oh, me me! I do I do! (Just as long as it's done with a wee bit of humor)
* Some sort of focus. Now this is coming from a scatterbrain who trully appreciates any and all organizational qualities in others. I like to read one entry after the other that somehow relate to a larger whole.
* Good writing. I will not continue to read if I have to read a sentence more than three times. I just won't. Good writing, on a scale of 1-10, needs to be ranked at about an 8 to be considered good. Writing that can't be read is a 0, regardless of what it's about. |
